Alter Eco

Tristan Lecomte in 1998 founded a small shop in which associations are sold food, but also crafts and decorative items. A second store, larger and as a company (the company Alter Eco) is also open shortly after. Tristan Lecomte spent a year to establish a method for auditing fair trade cooperatives, a method to accurately assess the impact of fair trade in the South.

In 2001, the decision is made to close sales areas whose operating costs are too high. He concludes that we must specialize in certain products, maximize the opportunities for small producers to increase the impact of fair trade in the South and lower selling prices of products from fair trade.
